Miele: cos’è e come nasce

Honey: what it is and how it is made

Honey is one of the oldest and most precious natural foods. It is produced by bees from flower nectar, collected and transformed through a natural enzymatic process. Once returned to the hive, the nectar is deposited in the honeycomb cells and ventilated by the bees until it reaches the right level of humidity.

This process reduces the water content in the nectar and turns it into honey, a food rich in simple sugars like glucose and fructose, which are easily absorbed by the body. Honey serves as the colony's energy reserve during the winter.

Each honey variety depends on the flowers visited by the bees and the area where it is collected. Color, aroma, and flavor vary depending on the flora and climatic conditions.

Honey is not just a natural sweetener: it is the result of extraordinary collective effort and a perfect balance between bees and the environment.
